Rules for using individual work cabins in the WUL’s Main Reading Room of the University of Wroclaw

Attention!

The condition for the efficient operation of the cabin reservation system is that the user provides an e-mail address in the subscription form to the Library.

 

  1. Individual work cabins in the Main Reading Room can be used by WUL’s users who have a library card/student ID (valid and free from any obligations). Short-term card users can use one-day cabins. The final verification of the authorization to use the cabin is made by an employee of the Main Reading Room, and in the event of not meeting requirements to use the cabin - immediately informs the user who is waiting for the cabin.
  2. All cabins, with the exception of one-day cabins and one of the cabins adapted to the needs of users with disabilities, No. CGKPI 21, are included in the reservation system that allows users to order, reserve and prolong term of use of cabins via a link by the entry to the online catalog (here will be a link to the tile on the WUL’s main page - ordering cabins, which will be linked to the WUL’s catalog), according to the following rules:
    • the user can order or reserve only one cabin,
    • in order to use the cabin, user must report to the Reading Room within 3 days from the date of ordering an available cabin or the date of sending an e-mail by WUL with information about the availability of the reserved cabin,
    • failure to report within the designated time is tantamount to resignation from the cabin and means the cancellation of the reservation by the WUL’s employee,
    • the user who resigns from the cabin reservation is obliged to cancel it in his/her library account.
  3. Users using individual work cabins in the Main Reading Room are obliged to: report to the librarian, leave a library card/student ID and legibly sign in the guest book. Work in cabins should be completed during the working hours of the Main Reading Room.
  4. One-day cabins with the numbers: CGKPI 17-20 and CGKPI 21 are available to all interested users, without prior reservation, depending on availability, according to the order of applications on a given day in the Main Reading Room.
  5. Cabins with the numbers: CGKPI 1-4, CGKPI 23-24 are available only to the professors, habilitated doctors and doctors employed at the University of Wrocław for a maximum period of up to 2 months (with the possibility of prolongation, not earlier than 3 days before the end of this period, if no prior reservation has been made for given cabin).
  6. Cabins with the numbers: CGKPI 5-16, CGKPI 25-32 and CGKPI 22 are available to the users for a maximum period of up to 2 weeks (with the possibility of prolongation, not earlier than 3 days before the end of this period, if no prior reservation has been made for given cabin).
  7. Cabins with the numbers: CGKPI 21–22 are adapted to the needs of people with disabilities: equipped with higher desks and computer stations with Internet access and software that magnifies or reads the text displayed on the screens. A Braille keyboard is available upon request.
  8. All cabins are equipped with desks, chairs, shelves for user’s materials, light and wi-fi network. Cabins with numbers CGKPI 1, CGKPI 5-6, CGKPI 17, CGKPI 21–22 are equipped with computers with Internet access and basic software to create and work on user’s own files, according to the rules:
    • own files should be placed on the computer desktop, in the folder named: User's Disk (D). WUL is not responsible for the data stored temporarily on disk D (they are not archived),
    • after paying the fee (according to the WUL's price list), it is possible to print files on the self-service photocopying stations in the Library – attention: service available soon.
    • before the end of the use of the cabin, user should delete his/her own files from the drive D, the remaining files will be deleted by an employee of the Main Reading Room.
  9. The key to the cabin is given to the user during each visit, and after finishing work in the cabin on a given day - it remains in the Reading Room. It cannot be shared with another person. Losing a key or damaging the lock requires urgent notification to the employee of the Main Reading Room and payment of the fee in accordance with the WUL’s price list. The library has spare keys and reserves the right to enter the cabin, also in the absence of the current user.
  10. The following library materials can be used in the cabin:
    • books ordered for the Main Reading Room from the general storage area,
    • archival journals (except large-format) ordered to the Periodicals Reading Room, where the user is obliged to report the need to deliver materials to the cabin,
    • books from the Free Access,
    • books ordered by the Interlibrary Lending Department,
    • in total, the user can use in cabin 10 vol. of library materials ordered for reading rooms from WUL's storage department and 5 vol. of materials from Free Access,
    • before starting work in the cabin, the user collects the library materials from the librarian, and after finishing work on a given day - returns all materials to the librarian and reports the need to prolong them for further use or return.
  11. Library materials from the Silesian-Lusatian Collection, cimelia from general collections, documents of social life and library materials from the Informatory, departments of general and special collections, which are available only in the relevant departments, cannot be used in the cabins. In the case of library materials that are particularly valuable or in poor condition, employees of the Main Reading Room or the Periodical Reading Room may refuse to issue them to the cabin.
  12. The user bears full responsibility for the library materials and equipment in the cabin and is subject to the Rules of Collection Circulation in the Wroclaw University Library and Order regulations in force at the WUL's building. The cabins are intended for study or scientific work and may not be used for other purposes, e.g. for commercial activities.
  13. The user may bring and leave his own materials, small equipment, etc. in the cabin, but WUL is not responsible for them.
  14. Failure to use the cabin for a week or failure to return the key causes:
    • sending a reminder to the user,
    • if there is no reaction, after three days, the user's library account is blocked until the key is returned,
    • after the next three days, in the absence of contact, the cabin will be opened in the presence of the Library employees. The library materials left in the cabin will be returned to the relevant WUL departments and removed from the user's account, and the remaining items will be deposited in the WUL's Autonomous Section for Administration of Wroclaw University Library, in accordance with the Order regulations in force at the WUL's building. The user will be notified by e-mail.
  15. The user's belongings, deposited in the Section for Administration, can be collected at the place and time agreed by phone (phone: +48 71 34 63 126 or +48 71 34 63 112, between 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) within 3 months from the time they were deposited in the Section. After this date, items with an estimated value of over 100 PLN will be transferred to the Municipal Lost and Found Office, and the remaining items - destroyed after one year.
  16. Violation of the above rules by the user or non-compliance with the recommendations of the librarian results in the temporary deprivation of the possibility to use the services of WUL.
