In 2014 has been completed conservation the Atlas Silesiae id est Ducatus Silesiae by Wieland and Schubarth. This beautiful collection of maps, published by Johann Homann in Nuremberg in 1750, was preserved in the WUL’s collection in extremely bad condition. Soft leather binding that allows for rolling the atlas into tube in time caused strong macerated of the maps. Their conservation and stabilization as well as the renewal of an unusual binding with the clasp framed with green silk thread, lasted several years. Conservation works became an opportunity for non-invasive digitalization of the atlas.
